What Is a APFT Calculator?
The APFT Calculator computes scores for the traditional United States Army Physical Fitness Test (DA Form 705). It scores three events: two minutes of push-ups, two minutes of sit-ups, and a timed two-mile run on a 0–300 point scale adjusted for gender and age.
How to Use This Calculator
- Select your gender and age group bracket (17–21, 22–26, 27–31, etc.).
- Enter repetitions completed for 2 minutes of push-ups.
- Enter repetitions completed for 2 minutes of sit-ups.
- Enter your 2-mile run time in minutes and seconds.
- Check event point breakdowns (0–100 pts each), pass/fail status, and physical fitness badge qualification.
APFT Scoring Scale Standards
\text{Total Score} = \text{Score}_{\text{PU}} + \text{Score}_{\text{SU}} + \text{Score}_{\text{Run}}, \quad \text{Passing} = \min(\text{Event Scores}) \ge 60Soldiers must score at least 60 points in each event to pass the test (minimum 180 total). Maximum possible score is 300 points.
Worked Example
Scenario: A 24-year-old male soldier with 60 push-ups, 65 sit-ups, and a 14:30 2-mile run
Age group: 22–26 Male.
Push-ups (60 reps): 84 points (Pass).
Sit-ups (65 reps): 78 points (Pass).
2-Mile Run (14:30): 81 points (Pass).
Total: 84 + 78 + 81 = 243 points.
Tips & Key Notes
- Pacing is critical on the 2-mile run: starting too fast in the first half mile causes excessive lactic acid accumulation.
- For push-ups, lock your elbows completely at the top and lower until the upper arms are parallel to the ground.
- Ensure fingers remain interlocked behind the head during the entire sit-up event.
