Worked Example

Scenario: Surfacing a 100 ft by 12 ft farm driveway with 3 inches of compacted crushed asphalt millings.

Square footage: 100 × 12 = 1,200 sq ft (133.33 sq yds).

Tonnage: 133.33 sq yds × 3 in × 104 lbs = 41,600 lbs.
